I went to the Aquatennial Fireworks for the third year in a row. Most of the viewers head out to the Stone Arch Bridge to watch the show. My friends and I went to the middle of the bridge barely making it in time. As usual, I used slash techniques to use the fireworks as a way of drawing and painting with light. Sometimes, the way that the color diffuses, it reminds me of water color. I've also tried to use these techniques to write and draw. The first year, I simply moved the camera. The second year, I started to change the focus and the focal length mostly independently. This year, I concentrated on changing both focus and focal length at the same time.

I went to the Mayday Parade and Festival. It is a celebration of spring and the Earth. There tends to be a bit of a "we are ruining Mother Earth but can still save her" expression. Many people show up to this event. I took a series of images of the parade and a few of the people waiting for the main event. I did not capture much of the Tree of Life ceremony due to seating. There was a lot of creativity with the costumes and performances. I am uploading some of the images. These images are meant for photo journalistic intent only. I will not be making them available for print, download, and stock. But of course there is some great costume design. I do see the value of them being used as reference.

I have uploaded some of the cemetery scans. I have 2 more rolls to pick up on payday. These are 120 film shots in a Holga. I am using various techniques and film types. This is a current project that I am in the planning stage for. These are unedited and as scanned.
Numbered as scanned not shot. Some shots were not cemetery based so there are skips in sequence.
600 dpi
Black and White film
Color Negative film
possibly Slide Film in the future

I have updated my blog. This is something of a rarity. halfdrake.blogspot.com/ if you are interested. I am just using it to talk about my art and my life. It is a bit personal but has soap opera moments for you to enjoy. Please feel free to leave comments but please be tactful.

Over the summer I am imposing a weekly project. So far, I have been able to follow through. Some weeks are easy. This week was the 4th of July. I headed out with friends (Random-Highjinx was one) for pizza and fireworks. It was a blast, pun intended. I shot many (128) images of fireworks using slash and flash techniques. I was also scanning old family photos and slides. I may have made a dent in the pile (and by pile I mean 2 boxes, 2 plastic totes, and a medium to large carry bag). This week was a 2for1. Last week I can't remember doing anything creative other than one costume idea on Saturday. I guess I am struggling for artistic consistency.
